This term, students will be exploring the topic of ‘Kids Can’. We’ll be looking through the Bible at all the times where kids did amazing things for God. From Josiah in 2 Kings, who was 8 years old when he became King and led the nation of Israel back to God, to the small boy in John 6, who brought all he had (2 fish and 5 loaves) which then fed thousands. The encouragement for students in our Primary is what amazing ways can you serve God now. If you’re looking for ways you can encourage that heart of service in your child, you can:
Explore these ‘9 Ways To Teach Children to Serve God’ with your family and brainstorm which ones you can put into practice. Encourage students to write a list of all the people who serve them and make a point of writing cards or saying thank you – the bus drivers, the soccer coaches, even their siblings.
This term, students will be investigating the topic ‘My Jesus Story’. We’ll be hearing about the Jesus stories of people in the Bible whose lives were changed, of staff who have had their life shaped by their interactions with Jesus and even from student volunteers who are willing to jump up and share their journey with God. Some weeks we’ll hear a testimony and other weeks students will join with their mentor group to read through and discuss someone’s testimony written for us in the Bible. If you are looking for ways to encourage your child, you could:
Encourage them to draw a timeline of their life about how close they feel to God and describe their journey to you. Write a letter to God together where they have a chance to share what their feelings and questions are, which you can then discuss through together.
