Sport

Primary Weekly Sport

Primary students will participate in a variety of weekly sporting activities during their Sport and Physical Education lessons. Primary students are required to wear their sports uniform, including sports hat, on Wednesday and Friday each week, unless otherwise notified.

Primary students will also have the opportunity to trial and participate in representative sport in the Hills Zone Sport Competition. This competition runs during school time on Wednesday and Friday. Sports run on a semester basis.

Secondary Weekly Sport

Secondary students in Years 7-10 will undertake a variety of sporting activities as a part of their Physical Education program. As part of building College culture among the student body and encouraging House spirit, there will be lunchtime competitions among the houses and across year groups. This also allows the development of our House Captains leadership skills and physical ability in our students. As well as the normal Physical Education program, students have the opportunity to trial for and compete in the Hills Zone Sporting Association competition. Hills Zone is an after school sporting competition with schools in the Hills area. This involves training sessions as well as competing in the available sports weekly. These sports include Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Futsal, Touch football, Cricket and Volleyball. These sports run during semester 1 and semester 2.

Sporting Associations

The College is a member of the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) which facilitates competition between NSW member Christian schools. Our weekly sporting opportunities are run within the Hills Zone Sporting Association. The College is also a member of the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Sports Association which enables elite level athletes to access higher levels of competition against a broader range of schools at both State and National levels.

Carnivals

Years 3-12 sporting carnivals are held for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. These carnivals are much more than sporting events; they are designed to build College and House spirit and are an important and compulsory part of College life. An Infants Swim Fun Day and Infants Athletics Fun Day are held for students in Kindergarten to Year 2.

2024 Carnival Dates
Thursday, 15 February - Primary Athletics Carnival (Years 3 - 6)
Tuesday, 20 February - Secondary Athletics Carnival (Years 7 - 12)
Friday, 12 April - Cross Country (ELC - Year 12)
Tuesday, 4 June - Primary Athletics Carnival (Years 3 - 6)
Wednesday, 5 June - Secondary Athletics Carnival (Years 7 - 12)
Friday, 28 June - Mini Athletics Carnival

Attendance at all three carnivals is necessary for the award of Gold and Principal’s Platinum in the Norwest Challenge. Carnivals are regarded as normal school days and all students are expected to attend. The absence of Secondary students is likely to result in some form of additional coursework or assessment being issued in the place of the missed curriculum component of the carnival.

Students who perform well at College carnivals may be selected in the College team which represents the College at CSSA Zone then State level competition. Should students continue to progress they will represent at
CIS State level.

Seasonal Representative Sports

Students in Years 3-12 are provided with opportunities to represent the College at higher levels of competition in  a variety of sports through Zone and State Gala Days. These sports include: Netball, Touch Football, Volleyball, Futsal, Gymnastics, Oztag, Cricket and Triathlon.

Sporting representation can be used by students as part of the Norwest Challenge.

House Competition

Sport is one of the contributors to the College’s Primary and Secondary House Competitions. These are geared so that both participation and achievement in sporting pursuits are recognised and rewarded. All students are encouraged to be active participants at all carnivals, regardless of their level of competence and competitiveness. Students are to wear House shirts on College carnival days, as well as other designated days throughout the year.

Sporting Code of Conduct

The College’s Sporting Code of Conduct for students and parent spectators are housed within the Student Code of Conduct and the Parent Code of Conduct.

Bus Travel

The College may arrange bus transport to and/or from carnivals or sporting competitions where these are held off campus. Parents must pre-book transport as part of the excursion approval process. Unfortunately, students cannot be accommodated without a booking and parents will be asked to collect their child from the College in such instances. Please note that in the case of carnivals, bus arrangements cannot guarantee arrival at the venue prior to the first event.
