Principal's Welcome - Week 1, Term 1, 2023

Dear College families,
Welcome to 2023! Our staff have been excitedly and prayerfully preparing for the return of students and we are anticipating a wonderful year ahead. It was such a delight to watch Primary, Year 7 and Year 12 students arrive back on campus today. There were hugs shared, huge smiles and exuberant greetings. Our new Year 7's were particularly anxious to get things going. Mr Elton, our Year 7 Year Advisor, has a comprehensive orientation program planned for them and they have already begun settling into classes after meeting with mentor teachers.
To those who are joining us for the first time this year, welcome to Norwest. What you will find here is a community that is committed to growing young people of faith, virtue, wisdom and service. You and your family will be warmly embraced, and we look forward to seeing how your talents, strengths and gifts might bless our community.
With that in mind, we are very much looking forward to being able to connect with parents on Tuesday, 7 February at Know Your Norwest. I encourage you to make the most of this valuable opportunity to hear from class teachers, meet the Executive, meet other parents and hear key pieces of information that will assist you in the year ahead.
When I contemplate the year ahead, I am so encouraged as I read these words from Zephaniah 3:17;
"The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing".
How awesome is it to consider that the God who made the universe also knows us personally and promises to be with us in a very personal way. And despite knowing us personally, with all our fears and failings, He rejoices over us and comforts us with His love.
This year, may you know the comfort of God's love and experience His very real presence in your life.
