Stage 4
Stage 4
Stage 4 is an exciting time for students, and the College’s teachers understand that students of this age are happiest and learn best when provided with learning experiences that are practical, relevant, and enriching. The Stage 4 curriculum focuses on the essentials of literacy, numeracy, the creative arts, humanities, sciences, and physical development in a rich, innovative, and engaging way. It is values inclusive and encourages students to be productive local and global citizens, with an emphasis on the responsible stewardship of God’s Creation. A Christian focus is interwoven into learning and students are encouraged to explore their own beliefs and values.

We understand and recognise that each child is unique, with different talents, areas of interest, and learning strengths. Academic programs are designed to provide each student with the opportunity to master foundational skills in all aspects of the curriculum, with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy. Based on National Education Standards Authority (NESA) syllabuses, we provide a stimulating differentiated curriculum to meet the full range of needs and abilities of students in each Stage of learning.

The transition to Secondary School begins with orientation days during Term 4 Year 6 and then throughout Years 7 and 8 (Stage 4) through the College’s Mentor Group Program. The Mentor Group Program supports Stage 4 students as they adjust to and manage the complexities of the Secondary learning environment. The Mentor meets with their students each morning to assist them to remain organised, and help them with the phases of College life as they occur, studying a broad range of important well-being, interpersonal, organisational, and academic skills aimed at equipping them for life.
Our Stage 4 students participate in an outdoor education programs designed to enhance student well-being and confidence through a series of personal challenges and teamwork initiatives in a natural setting. These three day experiences encourage students to deepen and widen their circle of friends, creating opportunities for them to discover not only their own, but each other's value.
These experiences have always been highly regarded by staff and students alike, and are scheduled earlier in the school year to maximise a sense of belonging amongst our youngest Secondary students. College staff attend with their Home Groups where possible to build their mentor relationships. Christian Discovery sessions are an integral part of the program each day and for these we are aided by committed Christian staff provided by the camp centres.
Camps include activities such as hiking expeditions, canoeing, dragon-boating, abseiling, rope challenges, recreational swimming and watersides, team initiatives, and rock climbing.
