“Teaching in a Christian environment affords opportunities for deep, authentic learning to occur as a shared Biblical worldview flows into the classroom.” Sonia is passionate about seeing her students grow socially and emotionally, as well as supporting them to reason, problem solve, collaborate and create.
Sonia completed a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Macquarie University while her son was a toddler. Having previously worked in customer service, administration and management. She believes she brings a broad range of life experiences into her classroom.
“Inspiring teaching moments for me include working closely with students to find ways to move them forward in their learning journey. It’s rewarding to see the “aha” moments as students discover and understand new concepts and their own abilities.”
Sonia grew up attending Sunday School and Youth Group, making a personal commitment to Christ when she was 12 years old. She has been involved in a range of ministry and leadership opportunities over the years including children’s and youth ministries and is currently serving as a worship leader in her local church.
When Sonia is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, usually over a coffee or a meal, trawling through markets and playing board games.
