Rebecca Shaw

“Helping children to grow and extend their understanding of God’s creation every day is a privilege. Teaching is a God-given opportunity and being part of a child’s journey through life is truly a gift.”

Rebecca’s passion for teaching began back when she was in high school. “I did work experience in a preschool. I got so much joy out of interacting with the children and seeing them learn.”

Rebecca went on to complete a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education Birth-12 Years) at Macquarie University and prior to commencing at the College, taught Kindergarten at Eastwood Heights Public School. “I taught my first Kindergarten class to read and tell the time. It was fantastic to see their eyes light up in realisation and be so excited to use their new skills at every opportunity.”

Rebecca is a supporter of Scripture Union Family Missions (Beach Missions). “They are a great way of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with people who are yet to know Him. I have served on the Hallidays Point beach mission for 4 years.” Rebecca has also previously been involved in teaching Sunday School and leading Kids Church at Northmead Anglican Church, which she still attends regularly.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys seeing and performing in musical theatre. She loves reading mystery novels, eating out and having coffee with friends. Rebecca also plays and teaches alto saxophone and piano.
