Melanie has been at Norwest Christian College for a number of years in a variety of roles and is currently working in our Primary Years Learning Enrichment Team. She is passionate about seeing young people nurtured and shown the love of Christ as they engage in their education.
"I desire to see the students in my care develop a love of learning and become equipped to pursue their own unique purpose in life."
Melanie has three gorgeous girls that attend the College and says, “Having children of my own solidified a desire in me to instruct and teach children, gently guiding them in their decisions, especially pointing them towards Jesus. I love having the opportunity to work in small groups with children and to really get to know who they are. To be able to speak into a child's life and encourage them, to tap into their unique God-given gifting, that they can own and cultivate, is so very rewarding. I love the Growth Mindset principles that encourage children to focus on the process of learning rather than the end goal, to embrace mistakes and see them as learning opportunities. I find it exciting to see students who are struggling grow to see the joy in learning, to persevere and then value their learning journey.”
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys going to the beach or on bush walks with her family, decorating cakes, visiting art galleries and is dabbling in teaching herself to play the ukulele.
Melanie attends Kellyville Anglican Church and serves in both women’s and children’s ministry. She is also a passionate supporter of Compassion Australia, “I have been involved in some volunteer work advocating for Compassion, linking people with children that needed sponsorship. It is a wonderful ministry where something so simple can absolutely change another child's life and family.”
