Maya Jackson

Maya Jackson

Maya is just one of the team of talented and dedicated educators who work tirelessly in support of classroom teachers and students at Norwest Christian College. As a qualified teacher in her own right, Maya has discovered a passion for Christian Education, English as a Second Language, and support for children with Special Needs. On her days not at the College, Maya works as a Pre-school Teacher in the Blue Mountains.

After being involved with the crèche at a number of different churches, Maya began developing a fascination with the way children learned through play. “Watching the way that even the youngest of children would absorb information and learn fascinated me and I wanted to be a part of that,” she says. Now having achieved her goal of working in Children’s Education, Maya continues to serve in her church’s children’s ministry, taking inspiration from seeing children introduced to Jesus.

The positive praise and recognition Maya received as a young girl from certain teachers throughout her schooling years has had a lasting impact and Maya hopes to be able to give the same encouragement and inspiration to all of her own students.

An excellent cook and a fluent Arabic speaker, Maya loves spending time with her husband and three children. Maya also likes camping, reading, watching foreign films and hosting dinner parties for her friends and family. Of her experience at the College, Maya says, “there is such community between staff, families and students. Genuine care and love expressed everyday which helps people have a sense of belonging. Our College loves Jesus and they love people.”
