Emily Elton

Emily Elton

Emily pursued teaching following the encouragement of a teacher when she was younger. “When I was leading a peer support group in High School, a teacher who was observing turned to me and said, ‘You should consider teaching. You were born for it.’” A career in teaching was confirmed for her when she travelled to Vietnam to teach English at an Autistic School. “I saw the beautiful potential each student had and the unique role teachers had to play in encouraging that potential.”

At the beginning of 2014, Emily spent three months in a home for abandoned children in South Africa. “I had 35 children under three years old in my care which was very challenging. At one point it was 11 children under three months old and just me!” she says. “Both my trips have been extremely eye opening and have showed me how much this world needs Jesus.”

Emily believes in being a lifelong learner and has an addiction to tertiary level study. She has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education. Emily is currently studying her Masters of Special Education by distance at Macquarie University.

Emily has a particular passion for teaching students with additional learning support needs. She strives to create a learning environment where students with from a wide range of learning backgrounds flourish, feel supported and achieve more than they ever thought was possible.

In her spare time, Emily likes to cook new and exciting recipes. She enjoys spending time with her friends and trying out new coffee shops. Emily is also passionate about her garden and growing fruit and veggies.

Emily attends Life Anglican Church in Quakers Hill. She leads a Bible Study and supports her husband Julian with his many ministry pursuits.
