After deciding to raise their family away from the 'rat race', David and his wife Cindy moved their young family to the North Coast in the early 1990's. With work in his occupation, installing security systems, difficult to find, he became a stay-at-home dad. It was while volunteering at the local community preschool that David was encouraged to seek work with young children. He soon found a position as an assistant and discovered God's calling for his life.
"I found the children really responded to me. They enjoyed our interactions together and became engaged in the activities I presented to them". Their parents were also very supportive and encouraged him to study and become qualified. Since then, he has studied at TAFE and University and worked in a variety of early childhood settings. Most recently, David obtained a Graduate Diploma in Primary Education and has worked for the past five years in Coffs Harbour and Sydney as a Primary Teacher.
"I am thrilled to be returning to my first love in education, that is, those important years before school. It is so vital that a child's first experience with learning away from their parents is engaging and stimulating. Early Childhood is a time to develop a whole myriad of skills and knowledge, none more important than a sense of who they are, where they belong and an excitement about who they can become".
David has a long association with this area, born and raised in Windsor and attending church from infancy. He has used his gifts in children's ministry and worship leading in numerous churches and has recently joined the new congregation at Life Anglican Marsden Park.
David sings, plays guitar, juggles and has been known to tread the theatric boards on the odd occasion. He has been married to Cindy (KLAC Mathematics) since 1985 and together they have four children and one grandson. His loves renovating, cycling, bushwalking adventures and exploring new places and experiences with Cindy.
He is joining the team at Norwest Christian College in the ELC as an Early Childhood Teacher. "I am looking forward to getting to know the children, parents and teachers at Norwest. It is a real blessing to share the love of Jesus with others in this wonderful school and to learn more about His plan for my life."
