Norwest Christian College and the Australian Government want our students guests to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience. Australia’s laws promote quality education and consumer protection for overseas students.

Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Framework

The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework has been established to promote quality education and consumer protection for all overseas students so they can have a safe and enjoyable experience with their studies in Australia. This framework incorporates the ESOS Act 2000 and the National Code 2018. Prospective International Students and their parents are requested to read the ESOS Framework by accessing the link above.

Visa Conditions

When you are granted a student visa, you must abide by its conditions. Failure to comply with these conditions could result in the cancellation of your visa. These conditions include (but are not limited to):

  • Complete the course within the duration specific in the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance (a 95% attendance is required, and all absences must be covered by a signed letter from the Student’s Guardian)
  • Maintain approved overseas Student Health Cover while in Australia
  • Notify the Registrar (International Student Coordinator) of any change of address or contact details within 7 days.

Overseas Student Health Cover

All international students must hold current Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) from an Australian health insurance provider to cater for the costs of medical and hospital care while living in Australia. OSHC also covers the cost of emergency ambulance transport and most prescription drugs.

You will need to complete an Application for OSHC which is available from registered OSHC providers. Only Australian health funds that have signed an agreement with the Australian Government can provide OSHC.

The College’s preferred OSHC provider is Medibank Private

Overseas Students Ombudsman

If you wish to lodge an external appeal or complain about a decision made by the College, you can contact the Overseas Students Ombudsman. The Overseas Students Ombudsman offers a free and independent service for overseas students.
