Combined Christmas Chapel

Combined Christmas Chapel

On Monday, 9 December, our entire College from ELC through to Secondary combined together for a combined Christmas Service. For the first time, our College grew beyond the walls of our Auditorium and so we held it outside in the Primary quad where we could sing and participate together.

We reflected on the anticipation and excitement that builds up as we get closer and closer to Christmas. We did our very own chocolate advent calendar that traced through from the beginning of the Bible to the message at the heart of Christmas. Different chocolates helped us to reflect on how God’s ‘Marvellous Creation’ was broken because we chose our own ‘Milky Way’ instead of God’s. This led us down the ‘Rocky Road’ of sin, where we could no longer be ‘Furry Friends’ with God. But God gave us a ‘Boost’ by sending us his ‘Life Saviour’, Jesus, and that really, this is the most exciting part of Christmas.

Students then had the opportunity to discuss the excitement of Christmas for themselves in their own classes. Teachers led devotions around the ‘Names of Jesus’ that had made everyone so excited for the coming Immanuel, Prince of Peace, Saviour, Light of the world, Son of God and Lord of Lords. ELC/Primary students then made Christmas Baubles with the different titles for Jesus, whilst Secondary discussed further what that meant for them this Christmas. I’ll be praying for you and your families over this Christmas period that you’ll all be able to experience the anticipation and excitement of our ‘Life Saviour’ who came into the world.
