Chapel Summary – Term 3, Week 6

Chapel Summary - Term 3, Week 6

Primary Chapel has been looking at the theme of what it means to be saved to live God’s way. We explored this firstly through the Exodus as the Israelites were then shown how to live as God’s Holy people. In our Chapel this week, we discovered that to live God’s way we don’t have to wait until we are older, but we can be God’s holy people now. Stephen Cole (Kindergarten parent and Youth Minister at Windsor District Baptist Church) explored how Josiah from the book of 2 Kings became King of Judah at the age of 8 (many students liked the idea of being King themselves). He explored how King Josiah actually led the entire nation back to God, unlike many of the kings before him who had failed. We discovered that we too can stand out as salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) in the way that show God at work in our lives, even when you’re young.

Stephen Cole also visited our Secondary Chapel to continue on our theme looking at the ‘God of All Seasons’. He explored how Summer seasons of life, times when things are going really well, can actually be some of the most difficult times to keep our focus on God. We looked at the warnings from Deuteronomy 8 where the Israelites were about to enter the land of God’s blessing, yet God warns them not to be distracted from living God’s way. We followed on from this by exploring what things in our lives we have ‘exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator’ (Romans 1:25). Stephen then left us with some questions for Home Groups about what sorts of things can distract us from putting God first in our life.
