Chapel Summary – Term 3, Week 10

Chapel Summary - Term 3, Week 10

Primary Chapel has been exploring the different people Jesus meets through the gospels. As we meet these different people, we will see what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus. This week, we looked at ‘Jesus and the lonely woman’. Quizworx did a painting of John 4 as we empathised for the woman and the well and so that we could understand the difference Jesus made in this woman’s life. We discussed times where we had felt left out in some way and reflected on the woman at the well’s excitement and joy that Jesus cared for her. Students then acted out scenarios to see what difference it makes to their lives when they’re feeling down to know that Jesus cares for them.

Secondary Chapel has been working through ‘God’s Unfolding Plan’ as we go step by step through the Old Testament. This week, we met King Solomon as he builds a temple for God so that God has a permanent place with His people. We started from the beginning of the Bible and traced the theme of God’s presence starting with the garden, then the tabernacle, the temple, Jesus as our ‘Immanuel’, the Holy Spirit in us and then finally Heaven, where we get to be in God’s presence. We explored the separation from God’s presence being due to sin and how God made a way to still have a presence among his people despite their sins. In Home Groups, students discussed how it changes their lives, the way we treat ourselves and the way we treat others since we are ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’ (1 Cor 6:19-20).
