2019 Primary & Secondary Swimming Carnival

2019 Primary & Secondary Swimming Carnival

The 2019 Norwest Swimming Carnival was full of colour and enthusiasm as students displayed their talents in the pool.

On Thursday, 14 February students from Years 3-12 competed at the 2019 Swimming Carnival at the Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre in Emerton. We had a beautiful day, full of colour and enthusiasm and well over 450 students participating in both the 50 metre and novelty pools. Once again it was fantastic to see so many parents who came out to support the College and help staff in the running of all our events. Students competed to qualify for selection to the Zone Swimming Carnival in March, as well as to earn points for their House. The war cries were definitely a highlight, making the decision very difficult for our executive team in attendance. Bradman out cheered everyone to be declared our war cries winner but it was great to hear the new songs from multiple Houses. Our novelty pool was also favoured by many students and we are very thankful for our Year 12 student leaders for running these events and leading their Houses.

In our competitive races we saw some amazing performances. In particular, Harry Stubbs set six new record times on the day, and we look forward to he and the rest of our 84 qualifiers competing for us at the zone level. The growth of the College has also highlighted the difficulties of running such a carnival with all of Years 3 to 12. It is fantastic to see the excitement of our students and the level of participation so high that our events ended up being pushed back later than planned. We wish our zone swimmers well as they now go on to compete at Blacktown Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, 6 March.
