Premier's Reading Challenge
The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge is well underway for 2021. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure, and every year we have a large number of students complete the Challenge. Your child received their login details on a sticker attached in Term 1. Lists of the books that are included in the Challenge can be found at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/booklist/home.html We are looking forward to seeing our students enthusiastically completing the 2021 PRC!
We encourage you to arrive after 3:10pm for afternoon 'Kiss and Go'. When exiting the school carpark of an afternoon, we respectfully ask that you turn left onto McCulloch Street from Regent Street. We appreciate this may minimally lengthen the drive home but will significantly improve and prioritise traffic flow for all vehicles.
Also note that the Short Term Car Park should only be used if your child is being called via our 'Kiss and Go' process. Please do not park your car in the short term car park and walk into the College to collect your child. If you would like to collect your child on campus, ensure that you park on the street to allow for a quick and easy flow of traffic. If you require a new sign for your car with your child/ren's names, please let their classroom teacher know and they will organise another one to be sent home. Thank you for your assistance in supporting the smooth flow of Afternoon Collection processes for our community.
Happy Mother's Day
It was lovely to see many Mothers on Tuesday at the College's annual Mother's Day Breakfast. We hope that all the Mothers who attended enjoyed the opportunity to connect with students and other members of the Norwest Community. We wish all our Mums a very happy Mother's Day on Sunday!
What we are learning: Art
In Visual Arts this term Stage 2 are focusing on the life and artworks of one artist, Georgia O'Keeffe. Famous for making extraordinary artworks out of the ordinary, Stage 2 will be emulating her subject and style to make art pieces. Our Mother's Day artworks were inspired by her piece "Ladder to the Moon". We will be working with paint, oil pastel, chalk pastel and tissue paper. This unit will also focus on growing our BPL dispositions, specifically emulating, persevering, communicating and imagining.
The College Winter uniform will commence after Mother's Day and continue until Father's Day.
Effective Monday, 10 May, students will be expected to wear full Winter uniform as follows:
For all students, the College blazer must be the outer most layer of uniform worn and must be worn over the formal uniform when arriving and departing from the College each day. For girls, the College charcoal grey stockings must be worn in lieu of the white College socks with College trim. Girls may choose to wear the College long pants and blouse as an alternative to their dress.
For boys, the College long pants must be worn in lieu of shorts. Stage 2 boys are also required to wear the College tie.
For any further information or clarification, please speak to your child's classroom teacher.
Term 1, Week 9
What a wonderful opportunity to meet together to celebrate the learning journey of your children and to set goals. Thank you for taking the time to meet together. We look forward to continued partnership in your child's learning journey.
Equipment & Labelling
The holidays are a great time to restock pencil case items. Please check whether your child needs pencils or other items replaced and ensure that belongings are clearly labelled with their name.

Term 1, Week 7

We ask that you turn left onto McCulloch Street from Regent Street (no right turn or going straight). We appreciate this may minimally lengthen your drive home but will significantly improve traffic flow in the afternoon. Also note that the Short Term Car Park should only be used if your child is being called via our Kiss and Go process. Student Progress Meetings (SPMs) are an important part of the home-school partnership. SPMs will be held on Tuesday, 30 March and Wednesday, 31 March. Bookings are now open and appointments can be booked online by selecting the Interview Bookings tile on the NWCC Parents page of the College website. It is imperative that your child attend the SPM as they will evaluate their learning and set goals for themselves.
Home Learning has commenced for all Year 3 and Year 4 students.
This year Home Learning will consist of:
- Mathletics tasks
- Home Reading everyday
- Reading task in Home Learning Journals
- Challenge Task on Canvas
Details on all of these tasks can be found in the Home Learning section on Canvas. Please remind your children that this is due every Thursday.
The College Cross Country will be held on Thursday, 1 April 2021 (last day of Term) at the College. Students are encouraged to wear their house coloured sports shirt with College sports shorts. Parents are welcome to attend, however there will be a sign-in arrangement in place. Please refer to the email sent out last week for further details.
Linewize Software install
IT has sent out instructions to all students in Year 3 to 12 on how to install the necessary certificate on their devices in order to use the College network. We will make the certificate compulsory on 1 April 2021, which gives students sufficient time to complete the process.
Should you need assistance with this, please refer to the instructions sent out and email your child's class teacher. Where students do not have admin rights on their devices (like many Primary Students) they will need your assistance with this process.
