Special Programs

Transition Program

The Middle Years are a time of transition for our students – from childhood to adolescence. Beginning in Year 6, our students are gradually introduced to the Middle Years at special events and are encouraged to make and maintain friendships with students through our peer support program.

The transition is further managed during Years 7 and 8 through the Home Program.

Home Program

Norwest’s Home Program is designed to manage each students’ early Secondary experiences to ensure the best possible introduction to the Secondary School routine. The core subjects of English, History and Geography, along with other essential skills are taught by the one teacher in the same classroom. This classroom becomes the students’ Home Room and the teacher becomes their ‘guide’. This program has been very successful in eliminating much of the usual anxiety students experience in their early Secondary Years.
